WOW!!!! AWESOME!!!! Are you going to try to raise them? We had about that many last year and lost them all eventually. It was sad, but we weren't ready for them at all. He had the babies 1 day after we got him.

We now keep rotifers and BBS on hand just in case!

I'd like to buy some if you successfully raise them. That is sooooo cool! Congrats and g/l!

Ladyfsu - plan was to try raising some at home and some for a school project at Mr. Gatorolsen's school - that said the fry appeared on a Friday morning the day before we were going out of town :(

Luckily my parents were planning to house sit the dogs and didn't mind a few hundred extras

not as prepared as we wanted to be - but in first 48 hrs only lost 7 - 349 were transferred to a fresher set up yest.

so far some are eating and unfort. quite a few ingested a bit of air in all the transferring

I'll post pics if any make it past the 4 week mark

If you are looking for CB seahorses def. look up Tim in Seahorse.org - I was very happy with the price, colors and health of the ones I got from him.

Congratulations MOMMY!

What does it take to keep them? Do they need a tank without competition from other fish? I'm sure at that size, they would be food for other fish.

it takes being a bit more prepared than we were :)

we've set up a few 10 gal bb tanks with sponge filters for grow-out but just didn't have the live foods ready until Sun

basically they will prob be 6 months old before being big enough to go into a large sh tank with other critters and possible hazards. Until then they would do best in bb dedicated tanks

they are not only food for others but I have to be careful in the tank - it is horrifying to pull my hand out of the tank and find some under the fingernail or caught in arm hair - they are soo tiny

we will see how well we do with this batch and will learn from our mistakes

I've already accused Tim of putting viagra in his system :) as I didn't expect this many from a first batch and not so soon after adding them to my display tank

congrats! are you planing to raise them?
I'll like to get some from you at the right size/stage.

Thanks

AJ69 - we are trying to raise them but not too optimistic for this first batch - caught unprepared with live foods not already on hand and transferring and grow out tanks were not set up. I won't be selling any that we do raise up as they are already spoken for if they make it. If you want some info on who I bought mine from (adults and juvies came from the same seller - he has a variety of ages/stages) just pm and I can pass that along
