I have 5 Small-Medium Yellow Fiji Leathers for sale or for trade. The price is $25 for each. They are very healthy and have been growing like crazy. They are a good coral for beginners. Send a pm if interested.

Ok i have the pics they are in my gallery, so check them out. Also, there are a couple of two leathers attached to one rock. Those are $30. Pm if interested.

What you have is not a Yellow Fiji leather. This is a yellow Fiji leather and they're not considered beginner corals like most leathers. They have a tendency to melt more than the ones you have. I have the exact same leather type as you do. I have been wanting to try a yellow Fiji leather though.

Here is a picture so that you can compare the differences between your leather and the Fiji.

Bill, Most of what you said is correct. The only area that you may be wrong is in correcting KosB21 about his not being a yellow leather. Atleast in actual species. I say this because I had a yellow leather like you pictured that morphed to color and appearance as picture of KosB21's leathers. So yes it seems KosB21 may be misrepresenting his leather, but maybe he is being honest in terms of the species of leather coral.
Not being critical Bill, just giving my experience with this coral.

No problem. I have never heard of a yellow leather morphing into a toad stool leather an based on the pictures that KosB21 is posting that is what form of leather he has in my opinion. I didn't mean to sound as though he was misrepresenting something at all. I just was merely trying to inform him that his leather to me clearly looks like a type of toad stool leather. A closer picture of his coral would prove that.

I have plenty of experience with toad stools of that particular morph and I can say with almost certainty that his isn't a Fiji Yellow leather. It is of my opinion that if a Fiji Leather lost its yellow coloration that it would be certainly on its way to dying unless corrective action was taken to reverse the affects. Here is a picture of mine. I think this is what he has.

Even my leather looks to have a little hint of yellow in the picture but I can assure you its a form of toad stool leather. Very easy to keep and propagate. Best coral I ever added. It alone can pay for the maintenance of my tank because of its ability to grow fast and ease of fragging.

Kosb21 sorry if I came off the wrong way or insinuated that you were not being honest. I never meant for my post to sound that way. Good luck with the sale of your frags. They look very healthy.

Cheers.
Bill:)

Ive seen toadstools that were dyed bright yellow to make it look like the Fiji Yellows only to lose their bright yellow appearance slowly.

Now that is being deceitful....Sounds a lot like taking white carnations and allowing them to soak up colored water. I remember doing that in my 4th grade science class.

tetra,

Nice pictures of your leathers. Seeing your Fiji yellow really makes me want one. Have you performed any cuttings on it yet?

Thanks,
Bill

nope. haven't thought about it. It's my first sucess with that type.

How big is your Fiji? My toad stool is about 14 inches in diameter right now. I am getting ready to cut it again for the 3rd time since I have had it. I can probably get 30 quarter sized frags out it. Multiply that times 7 dollars a frag from my LFS and that's $210 worth of cash/credit.

My tank is only a 75 gallon tank. I have one large one and two daughters that I seated after cutting my main coral.

Well when i purchased my leather the seller informed me that it was a fiji leather but now looking into it, my leathers are clearing toadstool with a hint of yeallow under my lighting.
J4Life I didn't think at all that you were denouncing my info but were only trying to inform me. Thanks for the info.

All i have to do now is make a new thread.
