FS: Female Ocellaris

Hi all,

My male ocellaris turned female, so I picked up another small male and am selling one of the females. I have had her for years and with a male present, she spawns like clockwork.

Asking $15.

Ted,

When you have a pair, the larger one is the female. You can also see her lay eggs and/or have her ovipositer extended when it is time to lay eggs.

If you a clown by itself, you can sort of guess by size. They all start out male and the males tend to stay small. The size difference is really pronounced in maroons and deeper bodied clowns and less so in perculas and ocellaris.

Drone - Are we going to get into "moma jokes" now. LOL - just saw that movie "The Titans" again.

Adam- so your smaller male turned into a female even though you already had a female and he was the only male? What - is he stupid!!!

LOL

That's neat to know. I didn't think they would change with a female present either.

Yup. It happens occasionally and has been documented elsewhere. I guess once in a while a male "just can't help himslelf". I suspected if a male was introduced with two females, the two females would duke it out pretty hard.

After the male turned female, they were gravid at the same time. I watched the larger one lay a row of eggs and the smaller one come behind her and pluck them off the glass! The smaller one had an extended ovipositor, but I never saw it lay eggs.
