Sang will have a bounty out for the Orenji first:p

Your @$$ better stay, Tim!

Opps, I thought it was lighter, but looking at it now it does look more like Karl's.

It's doing great. Here's a pic from last week. I'm running a Helios now, so the color's a bit odd for me.

I honestly didn't think the orange could be more intense than the setosa, like you said, but it is.

Tim, Sang, and Karl -

I have been battling nitrate problems for awhile. I think it was over 40 at the last meeting. With LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of water changes, I have gotten it down to 5ppm. In my large tank, I had two fish that died, but was never able to find the bodies. They may have added to the nitrate problem. Also - I am wondering if it might be the food that I am using. I use frozen mysis shrimp. Previously, I was not rinsing them out before feeding them to the fish. I started rinsing out the mysis before feeding. But the mysis shrimps are pretty small, so I am also wondering if it might be that not all the food are actually being eaten. I might upgrade to PE Mysis because the shrimp are bigger.

Anyway - two questions. 1) What is your nitrate level at? 2) What do you feed your fish?

Minh

Wow Karl....Looks like the Orenji should be fragged for it's own good (and mine):D!!! The frag of Icefire I got from Tim is thriving...and gorgeous!

Tim, You still on the yuma bandwagon? If so PM me...

Hey Minh,
First of all, which nitrate kit are you using? How large is your tank and how often do you perform water changes? How much is changed each time? I always fed my tank Hikari mysid and never rinsed it. To be honest, I think nitrate readings are not a big deal. I hardly ever tested my nirates and everything was thriving. Does your tank have problems keeping acros?

1) I shamefully admit, it's probably been a good 15 years since I've tested for nitrate. So, I have no idea what mine is at.

2) I've been feeding frozen mysis and frozen brine w/ spirulina for the last few months. I switched a couple of weeks ago from Hikari to SF Bay. I didn't notice any difference, however, the SF Bay seems to have a lot more food per cube.

(I do have a skimmer that's rated for 6 times the size of my tank)

xia, very nice and colorful, looks like it could be it :D! that PL looks healthy too :)

karl, that orange is insane! put me on your waiting list :D. dude, you missed some great bball games this morning. one of the teams i was on was stacked with size and i ran the point!

minh, right now my nitrates are pretty low. i'd say between 1-3ppm according to the aquarium pharm nitrate kit. i feed the PE mysis, nori, osi spirulina flakes, spectrum pellets, cyclopeeze and ocean nutrition pellets. and no, i don't rinse them. i feed small portions 4 times/day but i got a lot of fish.

paul, if you got an icefire echinata, it wasn't from me :(. but i know you got the surf'n'turf, paletta baby blue, pl and tubs horrida from me :D. hope they're all doing well. i've kinda slowed down on the yuma gathering. many of the wild ones have melted on me and its frustrating :mad2:

justin, the thing is pretty nice i must admit :D. once it settles in, it grows fast and the tips are sweet.

Tim - That's a cool stag.

Karl - What the heck is that orange thing in the 2nd pic? Very cool.

Minh - Not sure about your nitrate prob, but I'd also recommend Hikari mysis, much cleaner than SF Bay brand. I don't know if it really makes a difference but I just feel better about the Hikari when I dump it in my tank.
