oh really...wellI gotta get to Memphis to take advantage so I am out in the cold...can't make the trip right now...darn it ...,would love love love to have the rics and possibly the zoas
 
and to make it worse, I just picked up live sand to redo the 8 gallon nano today and it is a dedicated ric tank ....not trying to make you feel bad or nothing..I don't think..or maybe I am ...lol

I think rapidled is the site. The driver (ballast) is only like $15. Then you
Just order what individual color and wattage bulbs you want, and a small heats sink. They sell it all pretty inexpensively. We have a few club members that have built their own that I'm sure could lend a hand. I suck at soldering or i'd attempt it.... Ha
 
....I would have to have dimmable as it sounds like you can toast your corals and you want to be able to adjust the colors....so you are looking at $225 at rapidled for my cube (see cube kits 29G)...not sure where you are looking for $50?

Sounds like a great topic for a meeting! It sounds like several have had success and I would imagine a few lessons learned along the way....

....or a craft day and everyone bring their DIY kits....teachers will be those that have built their own...lol
 
I'm just getting my 40g breeder set back up after leaving it at my old apartment for awhile so I'm starting from scratch. I have a clown, a damsel and one tiny frag in it right now so I could use alot. Anyway I could see what you have, and what kinda cash would I need on me?
