I'm selling a used X-Large Aquaripure aquarium denitrator filtration system. This filter is designed to reduce the number of water changes in your fish tank. It works by creating a low flow, low oxygen environment for a different kind of beneficial bacteria to thrive. These bacteria will break down nitrates and reduce regular maintenance.
This filter works for both freshwater and saltwater tanks, I used it for a 240 gallon, heavily stocked freshwater tank and it allowed me to reduce water changes to once a month. This particular model is no longer sold on the Aquaripure site, probably because nobody needs one this big anymore, but it is rated for 240+ gallon tanks. Regular maintenance of the filter requires a weekly feeding of a couple mLs of sugar water or vodka once a week.
The only thing you need to do to get it up and running is a syringe to inject the sugar water/alcohol into the system and a low powered water pump to feed your tank water into the filter and back out. You may also want to get a bottle of bacteria culture from the Aquaripure site to jump start the cycling process. I also recommend flushing out the filter before using it, since it has not been used in some time.
Asking $225
Aquaripure sells their smallest filter for $179, so if you have the space to spare, this is a killer deal even if you have a small tank.
