Even during the tanks worst, it looks like there was some growth....

Yeah a lot of stuff was thinned out and some stuff died. The ms pac man on the very far last grew well. And the Oregon tort was impressive as well, especially for an Oregon tortusa. Some stuff looks maddeningly the same lol...

I just noticed that you went back to the gyre. Any reason why you dumped the other 40?

Cause I'm bitter at ecotech for the fact that I've had to get a new dryside and 2 new wetsides to have a product that'll - perform quietly, and not poison my tank. Had another wetside rust and knock the tank back a few paces just after it recovered from the first....

Oh man that sucks. I read a lot about that when I was looking to switch from my wav pumps and decided it's not worth the risk and I'll just stick with the bulky wav's since they work really well but I plan to go to that Red Sea peninsula and was thinking a gyre would be good on the end.

I have another brand new mp40qd I could use in there but I'm so paranoid now, especially since the tank is FINALLY coming back to its former glory. When I upgrade I'll likely get 2 new gyres and the advanced controller and call it a day. But damn they are big and ugly. I tried the new tunze stream pump and that worked well too. I really like the fact that the gyre uses ceramic shafts instead of metal...

I started having the same problems as before - browning and rtn so I removed all magnetic items from the tank one by one to examine them.

Sent this pic to ecotech and they told me to remove from the tank, which I had already done, and sent out a replacement immediately.

Wow that's horse crap. Hopefully they revise them again and fix that. I can't imagine how many tanks they have ruined and the owners never knew.

And this is why I'm not gonna buy some Ecotech when I get new powerheads, thank you Sean. I'm looking at the Rossmont powerheads.

Before this second rusting incident happened, I was really disappointed in the lack of consistency. The first mp40qd I bought was FLAWLESS. Dead quiet and worked great. Liked it so much I bought a second one and that's when the problem started.

They sent a new wetside and it was louder than the first one. Sent out a another one and the unit was still loud. They sent a new dryside and it squeaked like crazy. Sent that back and they sent another one. Finally it was almost as quiet as my first one. Then the rusting happened and they send another wetside. Lol.

To ecotechs credit they have replaced anything right away with no issues, but come on. 5 returns to get a second unit that's as quiet as the first??? Kind of ridiculous.
