Fuge lighting, how fancy does it get?

What do you guys use for a fuge lighting? Will a couple of regular household daylight bulbs suffice? Or should I go with some fancy T4 or PC lighting? Alls it will have is chaeto, sand, and maybe hold a few frags temporarily...

thanks for that link charles!

looks like I will be getting this:

5100k_bulb.jpg

and hanging it above my fuge, I may need two =/

I was going to get the current USA one with a lunar light, maybe keep something neat in the fuge, but heck the bulb melevsreef talks about only draws 19watts! the setup would cost $15! I'll probably get two so that it covers the entire fuge.

thanks again guys

Yeah I use this setup on my 29g and my dad's 90g. You can pick up a clamp socket from home depot for like 8 bucks, unscrew the bulb shroud, screw on the TCP bulb, and you're good to go. Easiest mod ever :D

The costco unit is a lot more power. That bulb is only a 16w PC, whereas the costco one is 65W PC. So you will run more power, but the costco unit will give you much better growth.

I think I'll go with the lower wattage to save some power... also I think I want to chaeto to grow more by sucking up nutrient rather than only on light power? Or is that not related?

Chaeto, or any plants/algae for that matter uses both nutrients and light in order to grow. One is not seperate from the other. So the more light, the more growth, the more nutrients used up.

ah, so the more growth and I guess the more chaeto, the more nutrients are sucked up.

I think I'll stick to the 16watter for now, that sounds nicer than 65 watts =X If I feel like I need more juice I'll swap the bulbs.

Thanks for the suggestions!!

couldn't find the exact "flood light" energy saver, so I went with a 5500K energy saving bulb and a clamp on socket that came with a reflector... kinda ghetto looking, but hey for $5 it's good =)
