i was curious what some of you might be using for a fuge light.
right now i am running a 96 watt pc quad it is doing fine but i think its alot more than i need. i read a couple of threads through out RC and see a couple ppl are using the simple energy star spiral bulbs that you would use in your home. i am unsure if that would be a good idea or if it would work fine i only need it to grow my macro. any ideas

Yes i use one of them only the floodlight type that has its own built in reflector and you can wipe off the salt. I just use that and one of those cheap clip on lights from lowes. I was told the 6500k bulbs work best but they can only be ordered online so i just grabbed one at lowes

I used 1 of the 6500k spiral screw in bulbs. Bought it at Ace Hardware. Works great on chaeto.

I used a cheap outdoor flood light by LightOfAmerica. It was a PC buld insde and was incased in plastic so it could sit right on my lid. The photo below was when I first started to use it and had a frame and fan for it to sit on...which I didn't need and eventually tossed. :)

sweet thank you every one told me what i needed to hear. this will make a nice improvement to the tank and hopefully cut the cost down a little aswell off to lowes i go.

I got a compact floursent in it's own spot light type thing.... It makes it a lot easier to clean the salt off. My chaeto seems like it as well as my mangroves.
