Fungia plate tentacles not extending

Hey guys/girls. Got home from work this afternoon and noticed my fungia tentacles weren't extended. I've had this coral for 1 month with no major changes to the system. The only thing I can think of is that I glued my frogspawn into place with cyanoacrylate frag glue yesterday.

Could this be affecting it?

Can you post a picture of the coral? Are your parameters kept stable or are they known to bounce around a lot? (Alkalinity in particular) What kind of fish/invertebrates do you have in the tank? Maybe it's just having a bad day. This does happen sometimes.

Cyanoacrylate glue not the problem.

Maybe something from your skin? Lotion, sunscreen, residue from whatever you've been doing?

Or simply a bad day.

Tank parameters:
78degrees
Ammonia :0ppm
Nitrite : 0ppm
Nitrate : 1.5ppm
Phosphate : 0.04ppm
pH : 8.3
SG : 1.025
Ca : 415ppm
Alk : 9.0dKH
Mg : 1280ppm

I have a clown pair and diamond goby. Also a cleaner shrimp. I use Kalk in ATO and parameters do not vary much. Alk probably 0.5dkh per week while I'm trying to find proper ATO amount but this has been the same for a month.

Has it always been it that exact same spot? If so, you might want to find a shadier spot for awhile and see how the coral responds. How does it look at night when the lights are off? If the polyps are extending you could try feeding it. Do you ever see the cleaner shrimp on the coral? These have been known to pester corals sometimes.

They haven't extended the last couple evenings after lights out. I moved to an outside edge to see it less intense light will help.

Yes, my cleaner shrimp has no manners and crawls on everything and steals food constantly. I have seen him on the plate scavenging several times.

Looking closer, there seems to be a "spider web" like material on the plate. Could this be the culprit? Should I clean off? I'm unable to get a clear photo to post.

I don't really know why that "spider web" forms sometimes, but FWIW I had a Heliofungia that developed the same thing one time. It was all downhill after that. This happened back in 2003 or 2004 though, so I wasn't really informed about dipping the coral in Iodine and such, but this might be something worth looking into.

If it's only been doing this for the last couple days I wouldn't be worried yet. I would try spot feeding and see if you get a response. Even if it does go "downhill" don't throw away the skeleton. I've seen them grow/regenerate/start over on the skeleton. It's pretty cool really.

It's looking a lot better after the weekend. Most tentacles are extending now. I spot fed it this afternoon but it's mouth never opened. I'll try and share an update picture tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

I've heard about dying plates reproducing. I don't want to kill it, but I think it would be cool to see!
