Fungus on my clown?

I was told that this is fungus and I should treat with marycin. Are there any other thoughts/opinions/infromation that you guys could give me.

It might be Lymphocystis, but I can't tell from that picture. Try searching for other images of Lymphocystis for comparison.

i agree with steven, but am not sure.

new tank? often it goes away when they have aclimate better.
treatment is difficult

Tank is about 3 months old and all the rock was cured before that date. I called my LFS and told them about the problem and they siad I could bring the fish to them and they would put it in a hospital tank and treat it, and they exchanged it for another one.

Lymphocystis is viral, it will go away on its own....there is no treatment besides keeping water pristine and a good diet with vitamins...and doing that won't necessarily clear it up...like most viral conditions, they must run their course..I would love to know what your LFS is treating this with??!!??

Oh and by the way.....Fungus is EXTREMELY rare in marine fish..Usually bacterial in nature

Ok thanks for the info, they didn't actually say any type of treatment, I guess i figured if it was going into the hospital tank it would be treated somohow.
