Fungus on Zoos?

I have had this tank going for 18 months. been taking months before adding anything new to tank. last week while setting up a Calcium Reactor i noticed a white fungus on the edge of a zoo rock. a day or two later it took a 1/3 of the rock over. I quarrintined at this time. dipped but too late. discarded.
now I have noticed fungus growing on back wall of tank and up the side of another rock of zoos.

I have had these zoos for over a year and have not added anything to tank in several months.

does this fungus just bloom from time to time or what?

I will attach pics so you can see what I am talking about.
I would appreciate any feed back on curing this problem.

Thanks,

I appreciate the information. I have had these zoos for about 14 months and no problems.

I found main culprit for fungus. Once I moved several other rocks to remove zoo rock on back wall. I found that the fungus had covered the bottom of that zoo rock and about 6 inch by 6 inch area of over flow box on back wall.
it evidently has been there for a while. just never saw it until the zoo out front got infected.

I spent the last several hours dismantling rocks and corals so I could start scraping and syphoning debris out of tank. did water change while i was at it.

recently new member to site. I know i need to finish filling out my profile and photo gallery. will complete soon.

i usually use the search engine to find topics i am interested in. i usually find the answers are already out there without adding a similiar topic to the forum.

well I lost the two colonies of zoas after quarrantine and dip for several days. I had to pull out several large rocks to get to the infected zoas.

I took a flashlight and started looking behind and under all the rock that i can. i noticed that most of my live rock has several spots of gray fungus on them.

has anyone had this happen to there main tank.

were should I go and read to find an answer to fungus removal
from main tank.

Are you sure it's a fungus and not a sponge?

I had some white sponge pop up once and cover some of my zoa's.
I picked it off manually and kinda forgot about it until I read your thread. It must have just dissappeared on it's own.

I thought fungus would only grow on the zoa polyps and not just on bare rock?

I am not sure that its a sponge or fungus. I have taken a flashlight and looked under and behind what rocks I can in tank. i have noticed several other areas where i have this spider web/cob web type of fungus growing. i will install pictures in my gallery so you can see what I am talking about.

I have been taking everything slow so I am trying to find out what it is and how to go about removing it if necessary.

I appreciate any information you can give me on this matter Kass03.

Thanks,
