Fungus/parasite on clown's mouth?

I woke up this morning to discover this strange fungus/parasite/something funky on the mouths of both of my mated snowflake clowns. The fish are 2+ years old, and laying every two weeks. They laid a full clutch yesterday, and only looked like this this morning.

Any ideas? There are no new inhabitants in the tank for the past year (fish-wise). It almost looks like hydroids, but there are none in any other area of the tank, or on the other fish.

maybe he decided he wanted to clean a rough spot of rock and jacked up his mouth???
