Furan 2 Dip Question

I read that we should dissolve one packet of Furan 2 with one cup of RO/DI water and let the zoas soak in it for 15-20minutes.

Is this the necessary concentration? I have a rather large rock of zoas that have started to develop zoa pox. I dipped them yesterday in 6 cups of water but I only added one packet of Furan 2. Even at 6 cups, it doesn't cover the rock so I used a turkey baster to squirt the zoas above water. It seems overkill to use 6 packets since the box only comes with 10.

TIA!

WEaker concentrations are fine, and you can lengthen the dip time a little to partially compensate it will just take longer and more dips to beat the stuff.

So in the long run you will be potentially be using just as much furan 2 as if you did a stronger concentration and less work.

If your pox was a bad case you could also be risking the polyps health by not hitting it hard to begin with to get the pox down to levels that arent killing any polyps

Thanks flyyyguy.

I'll try using a bit less water and adding in more furan 2. The zoa pox isn't bad but I better fix it now than later!

What about reusing the dip?

If you had to mix enough to make about a 1/2 gallon to dip, would it be fesible to add an airstone and heat source to reuse it for the remaining 2 dips that are suggested?

It seams foolish to just dispose of it if it could be reused.

What do you guys think of re-using the Dip like he states?

Will it loose its effectiveness?

Is it safe to use a Turkey Baster?

I don't know if there is any degradation factors on the efficacy of the medicine after 1st use and contact to saltwater and air.

Ive done both, But I usually use the water that I'm taking out during WC.

I just think IMHO, using RODI further stresses them out. SO I resort to using Water that I've taken out of the tank during water changes as my dip since its being tossed out anyways. Then some of the NEW water I save a gallon or 2 from the new water I made to use as a rinse dip after dipping in furan2 to limit any trace amounts of furan on the polyps. I gently swish them in the rinse for a bit.

ALso run some carbon in the tank after in the case any stray furan gets into the tank as precaution.
