Furan 2 response time

I have a multibanded angel that has one cloudy eye that is slightly distended (popeye). I have transferred it to a HT and started treating with Furan 2 (nitrofurazone).

As per the product instructions I have just added the second dose after 24hrs. How soon should I expect improvement with the appearance of the eye? Curious what others have experienced and will a second course of treatment be needed?

Are we positive that you are not dealing with a fluke infestation and a secondary bacterial infection vs just a bacterial infection?

Reasonably confident, fish went through a short QT with a 10 day prophylactic prazi treatment (it didn't show any symptoms like flashing). Only one eye is affected at this time and I'm guessing that a fluke issue would likely affect both?

I am suspecting an infection after injury perhaps? I know the LFS employee was not very good with the net :(

If it's just an injury (and not infected), then antibiotics won't have an impact on recovery time. You have to wait for the swelling to go down. Sometimes dosing epsom salt can help with that.

IME; "popeye" in just one eye usually means injury. In both eyes... means you are usually dealing with an infection.
