Future meetings

Hi y'all,

Hope you can help me with future meeting ideas.

Beaslbob said that he will host us in April.
We need to plan our May and June meetings. Anyone wants to host us in May or June? Do you all want to visit some stores?
We can check out some places we have not visited.

Your ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Tomoko

Well, I see that you're not being flooded with suggestions here
I always like going WEEC, and also I thought that Lori was up for hosting another meeting soon.
Is there any interest in taking a road trip to the Atlanta Aquarium together?
FWIW,

Agin, several members including myself have not seen Kwairocks 2x600 tanks. She has already agreed to host.

"Hey Buzz, I would love to host again! I've done work to the tanks and would love to see everyone. Maybe when you have a slow month Tomoko, we could do it. The spring would be fine."
KwaiRocks

If I have furniture by then, I can host. Promise not to look at what survived the cross-country trek, though!

Ugh... I hope I have the time to buy furniture by June!

It's very nice of you to volunteer, Nicole! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I am usually the one who has the honor of begging shops and people to host us.

I was planning on hosting one in April, but my house repair got postponed till early May partly because I had a family emergency and had to go to Japan in mid February when the repair work was to take place. I am glad that Beaslbob and Verdell can host us instead in April.

As some of you may remember, my house was struck by lightening back in early August last year. I hope my roof will hold up till May 7th. I may be able to host it in late May if my tanks survive the ordeal of all the dust and the paint fume from the major construction work. My general contractor wants us out of the house for a week, but I am staying to protect my reef even if I have to camp out on the floor.

Altanta Aquarium would be nice to visit. Some people may opt to go to SaltwaterU in Atlanta early this summer and visit it then (I suppose they are planning to have the two day event again.)

I'm a bit far, but tender fishies and corals are welcome to camp out at my house for the duration of the construction. I have nothing BUT room right now, so it's not an imposition. I can feed and top off per your instruction. I'm shy on spare equipment, though; most got left in California.

I guess it depends on how bad the construction will be if it's worth moving them.

Can someone PM me the details on hosting one of these things? Number of folks expected? Needed supplies? Exact date and time? Duration?

Ooops, by the way, I'm in Hartselle now, not Athens. Maybe close enough for some of the central Alabama folks?

Thank you, Nicole. I will keep your offer in mind.
I should be able to seal off the entrance to the room with a drop cloth or something.

As for the club meeting, we usually just get together and have fun. We are such a relaxed informal group. It would be nice to have some sort of presentation or a workshop, though.

Tomoko

I wouldn't mind hosting a meeting in May, but I don't know if ya'll would want to travel out this far. Also I don't have a WOW set up like some of ya'll do. But I am willing to have it here if you want to see my tanks :)

Great, Mary! You have nice set-ups, too!! You may not have all the fancy equipment that Will and Kwajrocks have, but the pictures of your tanks have been a great inspiration to some of us.

As for being somewhat remote from Huntsville, you know, we could propose a join meeting to CARC for the meetings in your house and Nicole's. Some of CARC members used to come to our meetings.

While ya'll were meeting last week, our family was in Atlanta for the dental convention. Well DH was, anyway. The kids and I did lots of fun stuff, including touring the aquarium. The fish were spectacular, and my favorite items in the whole place were the garden eels. They were SOOOO cool. However, if you are looking for a coral show, sit and look at your own tank. They are still slowly adding live corals. They have some, just not what I went expecting. Also, don't go to Atlanta without visiting Cappiccino Bay aquarium shop.

Hey Tomoko,

I don't know if a joint meeting would work at my house. I have limited parking and my house isn't that large. It sounds like they have a lot of members and then with all of ours... woosh. That's a lot of reefers...LOL..... but what ever you decide is fine by me. I think a joint meeting at Aquarium designs or some place like that would work. And they would have a lot more to look at. :D
