Hey all,
I have a young 1" size fuzzy dwarf lionfish that does not really want to eat. I had him for a few days. I gave him just about anything you can think of that is froozen.
Might want to try live feeder ghost shrimp if a LFS near you has them.
My fuzzy dwarf will eat krill, scallop, & silversides. It might take him abit to get used to his new home... mine never ate very much for the first month or so.
Live ghost shrimp for about two weeks...once he has a strong feeding response try throwing some ghost shrimp at him that have been frozen. Once he takes those, find some small krill or PE Mysis to replace the ghost shrimp with. Once he begins taking those you should be gold.
I'll try that. It was kind of bothering me that he was not eating. All my other fish in there when I put them into the aquarium they filled up with in the hour...
Just a little change i guess with the fuzzy dwarf lionfish.
jeff-
no offense- think about it- do lionfish in the wild eat dead fish. They don't and at a 1" size the lion most likely eat smallish shrimp. So you were given good info, get small live grass or ghost shrimp, even live brine, but ghost shrimp should work well. I will say these fish are good eaters, but at 1" are very touchy
Have you read this article on keeping lionfish? http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/fm/feature/index.php
It took me a couple months to get my fuzzy to eat frozen.
I used the method COreefer suggested. It works, but some lions are more difficult then others. Just be patient and enjoy. When he first ate frozen it was one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced in this hobby.
My personal experience with my Fuzzy isn't as good as I'd like it to be. He's been with me for 2 years (from 2") now and I have not been able to break him from LIVE ghost shrimp. Sad truth is, these feeders aren't nutritious enough for a lion and the end result is probably going to be like mine. Searching a searching for any advice I can find to bring my Fuzzy back to health. Please do some home-work when dealing with carnivorous fish (which I neglected to do). Here is a site I have found very helpful and loaded with info on lions; http://www.wetwebmedia.com/lionselfaqs.htm
