G. Bush Sets up Protection for Coral Reefs!

Who'd a thought! Good 'ole George W. Bush left office giving us reef lovers a pretty awesome gift. It would have been nice to see some action like this years ago- but Sala's National Geographic report on Kingman Reef was just recently published- my guess is that his research played a role in these steps. Im very grateful for the new protections set up for these areas and hope to see more action like this!

Any thoughts on this? As Sala points out- some of the protections could have been extended further from the coastline... I figure its a step in the right direction- and a surprising one at that, coming from W.

This is nice to see. It's a great move, and a win win for preserving some of the unique and most biologically diverse areas of the Pacific.
