is there a visual difference between these two I bought a used g3 pro off someone who claims is a g2 pro body with the upgrade installed to make it a g3 pro. It has the old fan and the old buttons. My question is ho can I tell ifs its actually a g3 pro vs a g2

That is correct, once you program the light via ESL select the "Devices" tab to find out which Generation of Radion you have.

Yes, if it is a gen2 upgraded with the G3 pro lights it will read G3 pro in your device tab in ESL
