So this is your new setup/tank Vitz talked about i could find on FB.

What does LiCIS mean?

LiCIS = Living Coral Isotope Systematics. The system is for culturing corals to look at the stable isotopes in their skeletons.

I like how you always keep porites and humilis type acros (thick branching nubby acros). I have porites rock like that, that turned out beautiful, green, blue, and white in the polyps. Interested to see how yours turn out.

Porites and Humilis are particular favorites of mine too. Nice clean design.

Want to know what my tank looks like? Imagine a nice stand and canopy, custom made in medium oak stain, with a starphire glass 60 gallon tall. Now imagine that covered in dust and a blue tarp in the garage... YEP ... I'm aquaculturing dust! Go me! LOL

Too busy with the horses and horse things to reef right now.

Cant wait to see the progress Chris! :)

Hello Galleon!

Looks like that light (250watt?) is about 4-5" off the water surface. Probably putting 600-700 PAR on those acro's? How long have you had this set up? 10k bulb? Photo period?

Hi Chris!

14000k 250 watt DE Ushio. It has become my new absolute favorite bulb, surpassing even the SE Iwasaki 6500k and SE Ushio 10,000k.

The bulb is 7.5" off the waterline. The Porites have been under it for 21 days. The Acros only a few days.

I haven't taken any PAR readings.

I really like the look of the Ushio 14k also! What are you using for water movement a key ingredient i would think since you are throwing all that PAR at the coral (I see the MP10 in the pic now!)

Just the MP10, but it operates at 100%, long duration surge. Mimics what an old-school Carlson Surge Device would do.

So that is what the set up looks like. How long do you plan on growing them before the testing begins?
