GARF cleaner crew & grunge

I just got my cleaning crew & grunge from GARF today. Still can't see much past the glass, but the snails are all over the place. I ended up getting 12 snails and 12 crabs, plus 2 pounds of garf grunge. Can't wait until the tank clears up!

Anybody else have experience with GARF?

Im curious about this too- how was the shipping on the grunge?
All your snails made it?

Wait? You have a 30 gal. right- not a 3 gal. i trust.. for all those snails and crabs!

I called Leroy the other day- seems like a good guy- they have a pretty sweet sounding special right now with some ricordia yuma's in the bundle along with some other rare frags and the usual pulsing xenia, zooanthids etc.
Special: 10 frags on 1inch plugs for 100bucks- he said most of the plugs had multiple polyps on it. Shipping was 60 bucks to CA for 10 frags and the 2 free lbs of grunge. Nice plus: 'janitors' snails and hermits are only 1$ ea with another order- which is a pretty solid deal because it doesn't up your shipping either.

I mostly want to get some of that grunge-- probably some worthwhile bacteria- seeing as they have such mature systems with a good diversity of epifauna and corralline species.

Yeah, it would seem as though he did not correctly hear me when I said 3 gallons and I wasn't paying enough attention to realize just how many snails & crabs I had just ordered. Needless to say, Emerald Bay just got a few crabs from me yesterday and I just picked up a bag of algae wafers at petsupermarket this afternoon. I'd rather have too many snails and have to feed them occasionally than have too few and have to clean algae. Regardless of the mixup, I love everything they are doing. There's been very little downtime for any of my new cleaning crew.

I do really like the grunge. It made my tank a complete mess for a couple of days, but I've noticed we have a new teenie anemone in our tank (good or bad, not sure yet) and some starfish. I guess I can't say for sure that the grunge was a good thing for the tank, but it sure does feel like it. I've now got an inch-and-a-half sand bed covered with another half-inch or so of grunge. And about 6 or so pounds of live rock. This tank is filtered out the wazoo (sp?). It is my tank to prove to the wife that I larger tank with be properly cared for, so I don't mind going overboard with this kind of stuff.

They also had a nano assortment of corals, but I didn't go for it. I think I'm going to wait a month or so (if I can hold out that long) before adding anything else.

Yes I still exist, for what it is worth I have ordered from GARF several times, and have nothing but positives to say for their products and service.
I hope to be in town for the November meeting.

Rick
