still around

Hey Ted,
sorry I lurk around but haven't been online in a while. Lots of family time with one niece about to graduate and move to out of state college to a new nephew born this week!

Anyway, can't guarantee that I will make any meetings soon but hopefully I can host August meeting - I think I did the last 2 years so why not make it a tradition :)

also - completely butchered the green polyps I was going to get for you - they were some of my original corals and are so long they were hard to peel off the rock which of course is at the very bottom of my aquascaping. Hopefully we can have another go if I end up hosting August meeting.

Gatorolsen , You don't need to host a meeting , but I would like to see your tanks again . Just let us know how you are doing , once in a while . Ted

what I am doing now is looking for shoulder length gloves to wear in the tank. I think I will stop by an animal supply store to see how cheap the cow exam gloves are before I order some from online.

Some tiny little brown fuzzy looking polyp have been stinging my fingers - pretty nice red welts - so I had the bright idea of wearing regular gloves to scrape and pull it off my rockwork - worked great until my arm started stinging - I have red welts all the way from my wrist to my elbow - glove protected my hand but as I was loosening the little buggers they must have been floating around the tank getting me.

Benadryl and lots of cortisone cream reduced welts to nice red spots - real sexy looking :)

They look like a really tiny button polyp, almost fuzzy looking. Where they are located in the rockwork it is difficult to get a clear pic to post for id, they were a hitchhiker on live rock.

Thanks for the warning on zoos. I had read those posts before and b/c of other bacterial goodies that can always be present in fishy water I usually just use the liquid clear bandage on cuts just in case. But after these welts (similar to what a fire coral will do when you are diving) I am now a glove advocate
