GBTA....Anemone Log

Ok..... so minor change of plans... Went to the LFS today to pick up the RBTA and they were both on hold for someone already..... I looked more into S. haddoni's and s. gigantea's and their care requirements and potential sizes are less suitable for my current aquarium. While I know they would be a better host for my clowns, Ill take the chance and try to get my clowns to accept a BTA as a host.

That beign said..... I was on Divers Den today after I could not find a BTA at my LFS. I saw a nice looking GBTA and my wife said it was awesome looking (great way to ask her to let me buy it). Sooooo...... with out further adu....

BTW, final price paid after shipping was 114$

This is the GBTA I picked out, I did not like the option of ordering one I could not see what it looked like so DD was my choice, little bit more money but hopefully It was still a good deal.

Let me know what you guys think, Ill receive it Thursday morning, and ill make sure to post photos of it when I receive it and when it gets into the tank. Wish me luck with my attempt at raising this nem, and I hope everything goes well.

Also let me know what you guys think about the color, and likely hood it will remain this color, I really liked the greens in this BTA and I hope they stick.

Very nice nem. As for color I have found that there is dry little chance you have the power and number of lights that they take these photos under. My Lfs has their frag tank under 4 400 metal halides and people wonder why it's not the same color as at home. Anyway he will be great. Enjoy him!

Nice nem. Your wife co-signing the purchase is more important than how the anemone looks.

Lol, another reason I bought this one is it was under 10,000k T5's, which is what I have, So hopefully the color is close. And I wanted a BTA either way and haven't been able to get one from my LFS for weeks. Also if it matters the GBTA measures at 5.5 inches (another reason probably for the higher price tag).

I have already printed out pictures of GBTA's with true percs beign hosted inside to help teach my clowns what to do. Hope it helps motivate them :P

Ill keep you guys updated and post pictures of everything from arrival to in the tank to hopefully my clowns beign hosted..... wish me luck.

Yah no doubt.... Looked around on the net and couldn't find anything. The closest thing is Fresno which is an hour drive and in my beast of a truck thats 20$ in gas. If I get enough junk in my tank I may start one in the city I live in, there are around 128k people in Visalia, the only problem a lot of them are poor farm workers and may not own a salt water aquarium :P (Frecking pricey hobby, but dam me if its not so frecking cool)

Sorry for all the Debby Downers around her Tmoriarty. If you and your wife wanted that anemone and love the way it looks then don't worry about the price. I think that anemone looks awesome and if they say it is under the same lighting as what you have then I'd venture to guess it would stay pretty close to how it looks now. I look forward to seeing the pics tomorrow when it arrives. Good luck!

Thanx genin. I think a lot of the price was because of the coloration and size so im ok with it. Ive heard nothing but good things about dd inverts. Its the shipping costs that hurt lol.

Do u wanna call the LFS in SF up? They have plenty of RBTA, and the shipping should not be that bad. I know the price of RBTA is around $50 (3-4 inches).

Well..... They shipped it on time and never sent me a shipment confirmation, Im really dissapointed in them for that. I called them today and got the tracking information and its already on the truck.....SCHEDULED FOR A 3PM DELIVERY!!!!! I called fed-ex and told them id meet the truck somewhere, waiting on a call back from the driver, 3PM in over 100 degree temps..... thanks Liveaquaria. I also posted in my notes to have it held at the fed-ex facility, thats why I was so dissapointed to see its on the truck for driving around already. Ill keep you all posted.

Oh boy, I hope it comes healthy to you. Make sure you document and keep lines of communication with Liveaquaria. I have seen others post that they are very willing to make it right if you keep them in the loop. Good luck. PICS PICS PICS

Yah I have heard the same thing..... only good things about them. It is from DiversDen and does have some sort of guarantee. As long as it doesnt arrive inside out Ill see what happens. Still waiting on the fed-ex driver to call...... They got about 10 more mins before I call them again.

Just had to call Fed-ex back..... the first person I called never put a package trace out so the driver was never notified. I guess this is one reason not to buy on-line...... Its a real shame there are no decent LFS's within 50 miles of me. Ill keep this post updated.

Update: Received it 20 mins ago, not looking good. Immediately noticed the mouth is almost inside out, Open around an inch with what looks like intenstines comming out.

Acclimating it but wondering how long I should wait till i get it in the tank, should I put it in sooner since its already not doing good?

Again really upset with liveaquaria on this one if this doesnt go well Ill let you all know how there customer service does with handling the situation.

Called LA, they noted my account and said to call if it dies. Id rather it not tho cause I really like the coloration. Again any help out there guys, should I get it in the tank as soon as I can or should I keep up acclimating slowly.

If you temp acclimated it before you opened up the bag check the salinity between the bag and your tank. If it reads 1.025 and your tank is 1.026 put it in the tank. Check the ammonia level in the bag and if it registers on the scale put it in the tank. If you didn't float it in the tank before you opened it do the quick acclimation by taking a half cup of the bag water out and replacing it with your tank water. Do this 3-4 times about ten minutes apart to bring the params. closer, then put it in the tank. BTA's are pretty hardy and DD offers their 14 day guarntee just let know of the situation and as long as they have a record of whats going on they will take care of you.
