GBTA....Anemone Log

Hey your new nem is looking good. I wish you the best of luck. It does appear to be very healthy in comparison to the first nem you recieved. I like the coloration also, even if it isn't what you ordered initially it is still pretty awesome. Keep us updated please.

Yah the new one is pretty, just so tiny, lol :P. My clowns will never see that thing :P. Its mouth is a little over 1/4 inch open now and it looks better still.

my clowns don't see my two RBTAs, one of considerable size in a 29 gallon tank... if they don't want to see it, they won't :P
On the other hand, if they DO, they may be a bit rough on it if they're decently large and it isn't.

Not sure if I can say but the bleached BTA's I got with my complete reef setup, had there mouths closed nice and tight the whole move! Now the only problem is that they do not come out enough for me to feed them. Hopefully the PhytoMax is good enough until they come out more. I would definantly say at least a day or two, depends on how stressed it is and stuff like that.

It is recovering better then I thought. Mouth is still around 1/4 inch but it has inflated most of its tenticles already.... ill post another picture in around an hour. Also to everyone who cares, invert section on DD is getting some cool stuff today.

Alright here are the new pics... its looking pretty good now mouth is pretty much closed.... at least its not open to its internal cavity anymore, not *puckered* yet. Picture with the yellow tang was taken 30 minutes prior to the second picture. In the second picture you can not see the mouth well other then the fact its not open really anymore.

And yah it definately looks like this one will be ok as long as it stays out of my powerhead (ill be putting a mesh around the power head in a few days.)

Looks great so far!! When i get home i will post a pic of mine that started at about 2 inches and now is about 5 inches in a month and a half.

Here are the new pics... looking very good now, mouth is 95% closed, tips are bubbled up nicely, only took about 3 hours. There is a little stringy stuff comming out from under the foot but its still attached pretty good it looks like. Redirected the flow to be less direct but give a good flow over the top for water exchange.

oh yah also... the size expanded is around 3 inches maybe 3.5 inches

It decided it didnt like the spot I put it in and moved down (perhaps to acclimate to the lighting). Its now on an independent rock under the main arch in my tank. Still in the light with the back 15% in the shade. I can no longer see the mouth (assuming its fully closed though) and the tips are bubbled up back to how the pictures on DD are. Nem looks slightly smaller now (because the bubbled tips make the tentacles shorter and fatter) Perhaps 3 inches across at this point, but looking good. Full attached to the rock it has claimed as its own. Ill take another picture tommorow morning to make sure its still doing good.

sorry if I somehow missed this part, but what ever happened to the original GBTA?

It may wander a bit at first. Mine sat in the same spot for 3 weeks, then did a tank tour to settle in the same spot it started for another month. Then went on a tank tour for a couple weeks until I got my LEDs, then paused for a week, then slipped to the back side of the rock it's on right now and has stayed there for 2 months. The clone has done a little walking as well. Fortunately for me, they've only moved within the same 6" area. Neither of mine have moved for about 3 weeks, so hopefully they're happy.

When I get my bigger tank, I very much would love a rainbow BTA.

From what im guessing and what the lady from LA said it probably got shipped somewhere else instead of the RBTA I got instead. They probably just mixed up two orders and sent them to the wrong people. She was going to contact the coral farm and check what happened to the other one, If they still have it they are suppose to be sending it my way, If not then I think they are going to credit my account.

Well this RBTA would be smart not to wander to much.... My torch coral was moved to the other side of the tank but would probably mess the RBTA up pretty good if it wandered over there. Ill be keeping an eye on them for sure.

It looks very good! Looking at yours, I am thinking that I have a very tiny rainbow BTA hiding in my rocks! It hasn't moved, and seems to be about .5" across tops. I will watch it as it does have slightly bubbled tips, but the size has me worried for maybe a majano nem... Love the RBTA you got, would be cool if you got the GBTA as well! GL with them!!

Looks like everything is going well. Next thing to worry about is it disappearing into your rock work overnight. Good luck!!!!!

When lights went out It stayed put.... closed it self up a little bit for what looks like the night and is very well planted. It started moving about 2 hours into the tank. After it found this spot around 3pm it hasn't moved again since. My water conditions are pretty stable so hopefully it likes this spot, dont need it wandering to much.

I have a very open aquascape, I can see behind every rock in the tank so It would have a hard time hiding from me :P. Thanks again Randy for the offer im glad this worked out. Still upset I didn't get the Green one with purple tips I really did want it (I know this is worth more money but its not always about money in this hobby right :P). If they credit me Ill probably wait for the next GBTA to show up that I like and nab it. How close can a GBTA and a RBTA get to eachother without them damaging one another, should they be fine to colonize because they are from the same genus? Ill update tommorow after the lights come on with new pictures.

actually, I was refering to the "original" GBTA that started this thread to begin with...did it die or is it still recovering?
