GBTA on the move

The GBTA I picked up a week ago has decided to relocate to the main rock stack. I added some flow in an attempt to fill a near stagnant corner of the tank and it appears that didn't settle well. I tried gently moving him, he doesn't seem interested :(

His current location doesn't pose a threat. He is siting at the base of a "major corridor" for the fish and my wife said the tangs were nipping at him when he was inflated. Strange spot selection as he is outside of direct light.

I take it the fish can feel his sting? Any suggestions on relocating him? I had not fed him yet - does that contribute to moving?

thanks!

IME BTAs move for one of two reasons:

1) They don't like the spot you put them
2) They are crawling off into a hole to split

Sounds like #1 for you. I've had terrible luck trying to "place" them in a static tank. IME, if you want it to stay in a certain area, the best way to accomplish that is not to simply place it there, but rather make the conditions in that area desirable - or conversely, make the conditions in it's chosen spot undesirable. One surefire way to get one to move is to point a powerhead right at it (you don't want to rip it apart, just make it uncomfortable). Of course, this doesn't ensure that it'll crawl to your desired new spot, just that it'll leave the current spot. So, you may want the adjust flow/lighting and cross your fingers. Or, let him settle in, and adjust the rest of your livestock around his chosen spot.

cross your fingers.
ours are always moving, especially after feeding, they stretch out very long even part of the foot will come lose, catches more of the current so sometimes it floats away, and will also move due to the slightest flow change!

ours don't seem to like direct halide, which was a surprise to me, as you can find them moved on the more shaded side of the tank, yeah ours move a lot :D hopefully urs find a spot :)

am not sure rather other fish can be stung...but I am leaning more towards yes,

He sees to like his new spot. Suprising considering he is out of direct light, maybe he's related to Langs BTA! He is looking a bit off and didn't have much of an appetite. A little pampering and he should be all good!
