GBTA vs. Leather Coral

Moved On
So, my Green Bubble Tip Anemone must have ran a marathon last night because this morning I found that he's on the same rock, right next to my Devil's Hand Leather Coral. I tried picking up the rock out of water to see if the anemone would drop but no dice. Before I left this morning, I put the rock on the sand next to another rock, hoping the anemone would transfer onto that instead. I also made sure the flow was blowing the anemone away from my leather.

So, how big of a problem is this? Will the anemone kill the leather (or vice versa) if they continually come in contact with one another?

One of the hazzards of keeping bta's. When you take the rock out give it a few taps somewhere on the rocks. The nem should drop right off.

What??? I almost always have to gently peel them off. I like relocating or re-positioning the rocks but that doesn't always work either.

i use my thumb nail to gently scrape them off the rock. a nem who is walking around doesn't firmly plant their foot securely to the rock yet and its easier to peel them off.

Probably an hour or so. It never hurts to keep it wet with a cup or spray bottle of reef water though. That said, I would give it a good rinsing before you re-introduce it to your system. It is likely to release toxins while you have it out. They do not like to be messed with in any way shape or form.

So I had to end up peeling the anemone off the rock. Damaged part of his base in the process (this wasn't the first time either). I tried tapping the rock, swinging him around, the ice cube trick, nothing worked. He seems OK and the leather is def a lot happier to have parted ways. Thanks again for the help!
