gbta won't open

a friend of mine gave me a gbta that he had that was dying, so i put it into my tank that was running 3-250w mh. it was the size of a 50cent piece at about a half inch thick, and quickly disappeared into the rock work. a couple of months later i found it attached to a rock but it was even smaller and will barely open up.
i have now moved tanks and it is under 4 54w t-5 bulbs and not much flow but a little. unfortunatly it only opens up a little bit, so feeding it is impossible.
my original rbta is doing great, and so are the other corals and livestock, i couldn't tell you what the water parameters are except the salinity is kept at .024 and the temp is around 79. what can be done to help this little guy out.

What are you trying to feed it? Is it sticky at all? 50 cent piece size is really tiny, and changing tanks is very stressful.

i have tried to feed it cyclopees, baby brine, brine shrimp, mysis , and the food that i make. all i will see is nubs of the tenticals but the rest of the time it is shriveled up. and yes it is sticky, the tank that it came from had less than adequate lighting for over a year, and has since gone from mh and now to t-5.

I don't know what else to tell you other than keep trying to get it to eat tiny tiny pieces of food, and keep your water as stable as possible. I have had small clones that wouldn't eat anything else, eat thawed Formula 1 cubes melted in Selcon, if you have either of those or something similar give those a try. Hope it pulls through for you!

I had a stuborn little clone that wouldn't eat. I soaked formula pellets for a few minutes to make them soft and dropped them on the thing, ate them up (my mushrooms like them too).
I had another probelm child, and found out it only wanted big stuff. It would only take a silverside peice about half its size.
If it is sticky it should eat, just keep trying. Important to give it a day or two break in between tries as to not train an aviodance response.
