Gbta

My GBTA has good color and is hosted by a oscellaris pair.
It seems to close up a lot. It was under brighter halides at the store, but in my tank it has settled in the bottom corner.

Is this normal behavior. Other than it closing and opening a lot it seems ok.

I got mine a week ago - it opens and closes daily.
It does get REALLY open, and then REALLY closed!! It closes to the point where you think it's dead at like 3-4", and then in the morning it'll be like 8" wide, tentacles extanded.

It's also climbing ALL over the place!

Up until the Ich attack, my O Clowns didn;t pay any attention to it, so I'm going to try what others have said, and get a smaller tank, and put the GBTA and the clowns in there for a few days and see what happens.

I also have a LTA in the tank as well. It does the SAME thing.
You'd think it was dead, and then in the morning BAM! It's like 4-6" wide, and happy as heck!

My wife calls these the Sopa Opera of the Ocean.
It;s dead - it;s alive. It;s dead, no, wait, it's alive.
They are cool, though, especially watching the GBTA move all over the place!

They certainly aren't healthy or happy if they're closing that often or moving around a lot.

You should also probably be running carbon constantly, I think some of your nem's happiness/health problems could be due to the chemical territory wars that anemones engage in.

Wierd, I fed him and he perked right up. Maybe I am not feeding enough. How offten should they be fed?

Pretty GBTA!

How often have you fed, what have you fed, etc.? It depends on the 'nem, and what you want to happen. I feed all my bta's multiple times daily, but I want them to grow as fast as possible for propagation. Three times a week is probably good for maintaining an otherwise healthy bta.

How long have you had it? It can take weeks for them to recover from changing tanks, too.

I was feeding him silversides weekly, I switched to shrimp yesterday...I''ll try every other day. I've hae him about a month.

GBTA seems to be doing a lot better now that I feed it shrimp more often. Though today it is moving, since I cleaned the tank yesterday and accidently moved the outlets and the flow is a bit different.

Like everyone else said, your GBTA is bleached and is probably going to continue to bleach. There's something bothering it in the tank.

What are your tank parameters at?

It's the picture, he's a neon green the entire length of his tentacles. Only his foot isn't neon. He's settling on a rock now. He wanted a bit more current that I messed up. Is every other day enough feeding?

it is not the picture sorry

what kind of light do you have?

you can tell it is bleached because the tenicles and disk up front are pretty transparent. try soaking the nems food in selcon before feeding it

I have MH and vho actinics. How often do you suggest feeding it. I do soak in selcom. It's color had not changed since I got it home about a month ago. Hasn't move much in the tank. Only to the corner when first in the tank and today because I changed the flow in the tank.

Here's a picture that is more accurate as far as it's color

A feeding every other day should be fine. Did you have to anything to get your clowns to host or did they automatically adopt it.

just give it time. everytime i changed flow in my tank mine would shift or move. i stopped messing with my pumps lol

Are you sure it hasn't lost any zooxanthellae algae? I am postive that your GBTA has significantly lost zooxanthellae based off your first pictures comparing them to your latter ones.
