Gel Food

Anyone use gel food?

Anyone use the powered gel food that you have to add water too and then chill/freeze to make?

I am thinking of trying some and want any feedback.

I tried the gel food that OC makes. They were running a deal when I ordered 2-part from BRC. It comes in little packets. There were two different types. The fish go for it , then spit it out. I threw them out. I'm sure something would eat it just not my fish. I have a pretty broad spectrum of eaters too.

The next bucket of RC I open has a sample packet from IO, I plan to try it and see what happens.

I have seen some stuff on people using gel instead of frozen. You buy the powder in bulk and make the gel food as you need it. Seems it may be cheaper and a little easier than frozen.

Can you guys provide links? The only gel food I know about sounds different from what you're talking about - it's not a powder, but rather whole krill/brine shrimp/whatever meant to replace frozen food, like this:

I know there are a couple vendors of this but I think most is from the same source. They claim its specially made for Zoos/Aquariums to feed their fish. I know another person who buys it in bulk and then breaks it down and resells it.

Nice thing is you store it dry until you need some. Then you make it like jello and store in the fridge(I believe) until you need it. You can add to it too with frozen or dry food and supplements.
