Last week I sent both of my gen 1 radions to ecotech excited about upgrading to gen 3 pros. Both of my units were working perfectly with no issues. I've ran them since July 2012 and never had a single problem. Their reliability has been so good, I have continued to invest in ecotech products and now own 2 gen 3 pros and 4 mp40s in addition to my 2 gen 1 radions ($4500 investment).
I was excited to take advantage of the gen 1 upgrade for only $275 / unit.
Today when I got home I had a phone message from ecotech. They stated that my gen 1s had water damage and can't be upgraded. I was completely shocked. They worked perfect when I shipped them. I've never had a splash event and taken very good care of them. They are not used in a canopy. I even packaged them back in the original box and had them packaged very carefully. Needless to say I'm sick to my stomach tonight and very anxious about this. $1500 is a lot of money and I'm worried that this upgrade decision was a huge mistake. I really hope that I don't lose my gen 1s from this. Anxious to hear back from ecotech tomorrow on the path forward from here. I've had excellent customer service from them on a mp40 issue. $1500 investment raises the stress level.
