My new Geo skimmer will come with a funnel and a few air stones The skimmer is 8 in dia with a 12 in dia collection cup . SL -22 air pump will be out side . Iwaki MD15RLT will be used as a flow through pump The skimmer design is for high output and low ele watts It will take a total of 80 watts per hour to run the skimmer at a cost of $4.50 per month. This is to replace the beckett skimmer i have used for some time.

Doug i have a 180 gal All Glass tank and it has been running for about 5 years. And i will post pictures when the skimmer is up and running. And you will see some new things on a protein skimmer that you have not see before.

Like ?? If you don't mind me asking, I am working with Geo on a skimmer and would like to add any extra that would help out in the long run as I am having one bult for my 600gal tank...

Shawn -GEO can build you a very good air stone skimmer, with less watts and more out put .For a large tank air power skimmer is the way to go .

The beast is finally alive!!!! I replaced the bulkhead that had split and did not even have to cut the air stone manifold! That was so sweet to do as it would have been a major pain in the rear. Here are a couple of shots. I was going to run it and take pictures at 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 48 hours and 1 week time. However, there is this freaking hurricane Wilma coming tonite. I turned it on for a little while only to see it run. The amount of air that those stones put out is insane. I had to bleed the air pump tremendously to be able to get the tiny bubbles, and even then it is impressive. I will have to get a different air bleed valve to be able to dial it much easier. Maybe something like a 1/2" John Guest fitting valve. For now, this will do.

After the hurricane is over tomorrow, I will take the air lines apart and glue them as they are now just fitted by hand for a trial run. Then, it is foam time baby!!!!!! Oh, I also need to come up with a much more sophisticated collection device than the temporary one I have below.

By the way, the only sore point of disappointment was the wetneck. At first try, it did not work as expected. Maybe I just need to play with it a little more than just 20 sec?

dgasmd - WOW. hope to see it up and running full bore. hope that the cane doesnt' do anything major

wet necks are touchy. give it some time as mine didn't start working right till the foam hit it...the it worked right

Yes he is usually good at replying to them... I have sent him a few e-mails that I have not gotten a responce back yet, I am not worried, he will get back with me when he has time... He build his reactors and skimmers and anything else acrylic on the side as he has a real job... He is just busy right now with alot of orders, just sit tight and he will get back with you as soon as he can...

Re: Kalk Reactor

Re: Kalk Reactor

How much kalk are you people putting in your standard size kalk reactor? Can you dump in kalk through the fitting in the top, or do you have to mix it up first and then pour it in?

When I mix up kalk I place it into a bottle with water from the reactor and mix it up into a milky mush, then I pour it in via the fitting at the top...

Shawn

So you drain some of the reactor water into a bottle. Is this an easy process? Is there some type of drain on the reactor to do this? Or do you just run effluent into a bottle?
