Just an update on my skimmer, running for about 2 weeks now. It is so consistant, every day a consistant amount of skimmate and foam. My AquaC Ev120 was the total opposite of this.
I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm in the exact same situation. My AquaC EV120 didn't do _bad_, but I honestly assumed fiddling with your skimmer daily was part of the normal process. I let mine go for a week without touching it.

I wish there GEO had a site showing all the models of skimmer he has made. With closeups and such.
RokleM, I really like the layout of that skimmer. Just wish it had two Eheim's and a 10" chamber on it.
I love it man. It works great for my setup (and additional when I get to it). I've heard a nasty rumor there is a large order from Geo for PhishyBusiness's new brick-and-mortar store, so I can't wait to see some of the monsters that come out of that

I'm looking at getting a new skimmer soon. I'm debating between Deltec, H&S, and Geo. I like the Geo because 1) it costs a lot less and 2) still appears to be good construction.
What needle wheel is the Gex-X pump on the Geo using (Gen-X, Geo, old Sedra), and how "good" is the bubble size on the Geo? Has anyone tried the OR3700?
Heck, if all else fails, I could always order an H&S Eheim w/ needlewheel from Finsreef and have George slap that on the 828 (and still come out ~$250 than either the H&S or Deltec).
Not having used either of the others, I can't really compare then. However, I can tell you that the build quality is phenomenal it's built solid as a rock, and I have no interest at looking at any other brand anytime soon.
As for the bubbles, I think it's a great design. The inside chamber has ultra small/fine bubble that won't let anything solid drop down. The bubbles at the top are nice thick and large.
I can't remember the _exact_ time, but if I remember correctly, this was like 1 minute or so into production (never had been in salt water before). This will tell you the bubble making machine it is right off the bat.
And more good news. I actually FINALLY remembered to take a picture of goop it's dumping out. This is the 3rd dump I've had from the skimmer, and it's getting cleaner and cleaner (I take that as a good sign, it's finally getting my tank taken care of). I just had feed 10 minutes earlier (bubbles go down for about 30-45 minutes during feeding, but unlike other models the gunk still stays at the top it just can't flow into the cup). Not bad for a week, and a small 58 gallon with only 5 small fish (2 clown, 2 goby, and 1 lawnmower).
