I was producing within 24 hours or so. After 2-3 days, it was dialed in so I didn't have to mess with it anymore.

The height is completely dependent on if you want to skim wet or dry.

Same with me.

How high do you run it?

Again, depends on how wet or dry you want to skim... Personally, if I scoop off the large goop bubbles at the top, the "turmoil" (where it's bubbling heavy and fast) is about 5 or so inches from the top.

Looks purty Codeman...congrats!

Thanks guys...

Question...do you guys use the venturi attachment (that comes with the maxijet) in between the Maxijet and the Reactor? Or do you guys hook up the Maxijet without any flow feedback back to the sump?

Do you use the gate valve to adjust hight or the ball valve (input)? Or both?

If you are referring to the skimmer, I use the gate valve.

No posts here for a while.
I have removed the air valve on my Geo Recirc skimmer to see if I like the skimming better with the air wide open or with the air closed down some.
SO far I like it wide open.
How is everyone else using their air valve?

ok guys let me have it ,,i am thinking of adding a bigger skimmer to my tank my 2 choices are the geo and the deltec ,,in your opinion how is the geo compare to the deltec ,,geo seems like a great product for a hell of a lot less money ,,let me have it ,,,,

thanks shawn

Wide open!!! We switched mine from one Sedra 9000 to two GenX 4100's and it's like a totally different skimmer. To the defense of the Sedra I have to say that a bushing had worn down causing the needle wheel to rub the front cover, which probably caused the performance to drop slowly.

i see you must love the geo products,,so i would say you highly recomend the skimmer ,,i am allready getting the kalk and the calcium reactors ,,but dont need them yet looking at getting the 628 or the 828 skimmer what do you think 95 gallon tank 40 gallon breader half full ,,,the 6 or the 8?

I would go for the 8" skimmer. It's not that much more and if you decide to go with a larger tank down the road you'll have the skimmer already. Geo's equipment is built so heavy duty that you won't ever have to replace it.

It's the 624 Reactor and it comes with the Pan World 30px or something like that. I'll take a better pic later and post it.

b Kelley 02 what kind of pump came with your new calcium reactor, and could you show a pic of it?

How much flow are you guys pushing through your skimmers. Particularly the ones with one GX6000 or two GX4100's.
thanks, Chris

I just got my Geo 624 Calcium Reactor and had a question about how much flow you want going thru it. I am using a maxijet 1200 and it leaked at the top and I had the top screws pretty tight. I'm was just water testing it as I don't have my tank yet. Also what's the best way to empty the water out of it? I unscrewed the top piece and the bottom and drained it at an angle to keep water off of the pump. Is there an easier way? The craftsmanship on this thing is amazing. I'm really thinking about selling my brand new ASM G4X and getting a Geo skimmer.. Thanks for any help.

I think I'm feeding about 400 gph thru mine but I'm not sure. My skimmer is fed from my external overflow thru a 1" hose, and my ball valve is open about 70%.
