Another question:)

For those of you running 2 x GX 4100 pumps on your skimmers how much heat do the pumps add?

thanks, Chris

Thinking of going to a Geo recirculating skimmer. A few questions for owners of the skimmer. What is the height of:

A. Base to bottom and top of pump
B. Bottom of water intake
C. Bottom of water otuput
D. What pump are people feeding it with or are you doing strictly gravity feed

Trying to see if I can fit it in my space.

None that I noticed, but I have 500g of water in my system.

I'm using the Schuran type stuff that Premium has.

A, B, C. Email George and have it made to fit your space. It will probably won't be too much more than a stock unit.

D. I tapped it off my return pump.

Tacocat,
I will e-mail George.

I had talked to him previously and he said he could not change the foot print of the skimmer, but he could change the height. The height is not a problem for me. I can accommadate that. I was just trying to check the other measurement.

I will not be able to tap off my return pump. It is sized with just enough flow to take care of my retrun duties and feed the calciu, reactor.

Sorry, I was thinking Ca reactor. Mine has a custom footprint. On a recirculation skimmer, I just use maxi-jets (not a GEO). One thing to remember when running a recirculation skimmer is to keep the feed pump clean. If you don't it will throw off your skimmer's adjustments.

Wouldn't changing B and/or C change the performance of the skimmer?

I mean the bottom output is at 2" then it goes up from there , did you want to know the measurement where it goes out after it goes up? If so it is about 13.5" at the bottom of the out .

Tonym10,
Thanks. That is what I needed. Just need to make measurements and see if I can join the Geo skimmer club. I already have a Geo calcium reactor, so I guess I am in the club already.

Thanks cward:)
Do you have a pic of your skimmer in action tonym10?
I am wanting to see the bubbles in the chamber on that size.
thanks guys, Chris

Here are some skimmer pics from today, shows 4 days of skimmate.

get back to you

get back to you

Does anyone ever get back to you? I have emailed a few times for a quote on a 28.5-29 inch skimmer with 2 needle wheel reciculating pumps for 8 Inch diameter and 10 and can't get a price or build time. Anyone have any ideas? otherwise I am ready to order the H&S

Why don't you order a stock GEO skimmer? Call H&S and see if they'll build you a custom skimmer and how long it will take.

As far as I know I think you have it backwards. Geo doesn't have a 2 NW pump skimmer in 8 or 10 inch with 28.5-29 inch height. That is why I need a quote and time frame. Unless you know somewhere that stocks a bunch of geo protien skimmers that I can't find?

H&S has 2 or 3 stock ones in stock for order now 10in and 8 in with 2 or 3 pumps. If I do want to customize it it takes 3 weeks

Oh yeah it can't be an in sump model either.
