Getting a jumpstart on dryrock

so im in the same process, i have 100lbs of marco, i can put it in a rubbermaid filled with water with a heater and couple of powerheads. how long do i leave it in the container with the top on it, and how soon do you add the shrimp?

You can add a food source for the Bacteria to feed on right away, Just don't get carried away with too much rotting food in the container. You can add some MB7 to jump start the Cycle of the rock and test Ammonia and Nitrite and when they have both rose and fallen the rock is ready to use or you can keep it in the container for a while. Simple Explaination there is actually more to it than that but that will suffice for a start.

And to answer your question, add the shrimp as soon as you get everything up and running so it can decompose and provide food for the bacteria.
