Getting an Oly E-510 for Xmas

I know there doesn't appear to be too many Oly DSLR users on here, but that's the system I've decided on and I'm pretty stoked about it. Can't wait to get the camera and start experimenting and getting everyone's comments. Not expecting too much for aquarium photography right off the bat with the kit lenses, but we'll see what happens. One thing is for sure, I'll try to keep this updated so people will have additional information to muddy their decision waters

I've had a myriad of Oly digi cams over the years. It was definitely a tough decision to break out of that mold and go with Nikon for my DSLR system. I'm sure you'll deservedly love your new Oly system. Enjoy!

Dave, recently I purchased a Nikon D40x but I was tempted to get the Olympus because of the “live view” feature. Its nice to see the composition of the photo in the LCD. I have read very good reviews of the Olympus. I used to have an OM-2 Olympus 35mm film camera and the lenses are very sharp. I am sure you will like your Oly.

You could also look at the Canon 40D. It's got live view other companies actually make lenses and accessories for it.

SWEET, hope you like it. I have an OM-2 also and love the pics it takes. The Zuiko lenses are real nice. When I can afford to go DSLR I will also go with this system, that way I can use all my lenses I already have.

Forgive the 3 stripe damsel in the upper right corner of the pic, I was using the timer and besides I still really like the photo.

Nice do you like it? so are you looking at the lcd when taking the pic or the eyepiece

I've done both, they each have their pluses. Live view is easier to compose, however, if you're not using the timer or remote, it's not instant because the mirror has to flip back down. Also you have a live histogram with the live view that you don't get in the VF. Using the VF is quicker and more responsive. I'm loving the camera, if feels alot better in my hands than the XTi or the D40x did and I think the lenses are outstanding. The feature set is actually more comparable to mid level DSLR's, although performance is probably not up to their level. Being new I think it does a fantastic job and is a tremendous value for the performance and feature set.

I bought this camera a few months ago and I love it. I also purchased a Sigma 105mm macro lense and it is awesome. Here are some sample shots using the macro.
