Getting back into some zoa/palys...

Nano is reefcrest. Main tank is custom via Apex, 58 minutes reefcrest at 60%, 2 minutes constant speed full blast 100%, 58 minutes slow pulse creating a wave at 60%, 2 minutes full blast, repeat.

Primarily on the tonga rock to allow them to grow on the branches. Haven't decided about a fish in there yet. I have a good film of funk starting on the acrylic walls today, so that's a good sign the cycle is headed in the right direction. A few of us locally have Black Foot Trochus snails that spawn, so I'll probably get a couple small ones (1/4" or so) to add in the next few days.

Smell is gone out of the bucket after 3 changes of RO/DI water. I might add a piece or two to the 100g to see how it does algae wise.

The polyps I picked up from another local member at a meeting. They were stressed, but the color returned quickly:

I have 4-5 more frags from a fragswap coming up this weekend. Greenhouse grown.

I played around with the rockwork a tiny bit last night. Probably not final. Thought is to have it decently viewable by both sides, while ensuring plenty of the rock where I'll mount the zoas is partially facing the center (more focused light).

My blues are growing like weeds, so I'll frag a few polyps off this weekend and use them as test subjects in the new setup.

Nice work on the nano tank. I'm very interested to see if the zoas will spread out on the tonga branch. Also, will you wait until the nano is fully cycled to put a test frag in?

Dropped a frag of blue in last night :D I haven't tested for ammonia, nitrate or nitrites in probably 6-7 years. The cycle is probably close or already complete. Live rock, water from my old tank, etc were of help. And quite frankly, many zoas are more hardy than we give them credit for.

However, I wouldn't expect or recommend a new person starting out to move so quickly.

Placed a piece of the branch in the main display last night. We'll see how fast it grows some coralline.

Blues in the nano seem like they're doing well with no adverse effects to the tank or LED lighting thus far.

5 more goodies from a local swap. That will probably do it for now as i have a decent mixture of colors to get going.

Are you going to put sand in it?

The acrylic cube, probably not. I'm a huge sand guy, but I'd prefer to keep scratching to a minimum.

interesting,,,, bb, no over flow, no sump, no refug, no skimmer. Can't wait to see more.

I'm a rule breaker :D

Nice choice in polyps!! Were these from the WORK Swap?

All the previous ones were trades/purchases from local members. The last set of pictures from the WORC swap were from Than @ Tidal Gardens. Good prices and greenhouse grown.

Nice!!!

how much feeding and water changes do you plan on doing. I have a bb 75g with mostly zoa's/palys and I'm thinking the bb is hindering me.

Playing it by ear at this point. Obviously it partially depends on if I add a fish or not.

Found a very plain, very small filter unit. I'm using it to pull some of the particulate out of the water, so we'll see if I keep it online long term.

Dry rock is doing it's thing. I grabbed some a cerith and some mini cerith from the main display and threw them in last night.

Blue zoo's are still happy. I'm keeping an eye on them for any changes, including color.
