Getting Clowns Out of my Elegance!

I bought a pair of disbar ocellaris clowns to replace two tomato's that were the terror of my tank. The tomato's were hosting in a dinner plate sized RBTA I have (it really is the size of a dinner plate, I kid you not). After I went fishing and got the tomato's out I went to my LFS to pick up some new clowns. I found a pair of disbar ocellaris's hosting in an RBTA at the store and thought it would be a perfect fit.

After acclimating the two, I placed them right above the anemone. They looked interested and swam in but it was as if the clowns got zapped. They avoided it from then on and have been hosting in my elegance for the past 3 months.

Got any suggestions on getting them back in the anemone or am I stuck? The elegance appears to tolerate them but I still want them were they are suppose to be. I mean the anemone is like the freakn' Taj Mahal of anemone's, why don't they hang in it?

Here is a pic of my anemone a few weeks ago so you guys can grasp it's shape and size-

I would suggest putting a strawberry basket or something of the sort for a bit around the elegance so that there's still light and water circulation but so that the clowns can't reach it.

P.S. that anemone looks awesome.

Hey thanks, heres a couple more pics to show off :) -

You can see how big it really is from the wide shot.

The questions is, what the heck is my clowns problem?

The clowns will eventually kill your elegance coral by causing it to abrade against its outer shell :(

Tell that to my clowns and my elegance.;)

If you replace the "will" with "could" in your statement, I would generally agree with it.

 yeah them clowns sure are not to smart. They have that nice rbta and are not in it.

Ok, so I need some more help here. Last night I put a plastic easter basket over my elegance to keep the clowns away from it but now I have them hosting some mushrooms and picking on my Cynarina. I've tried the age old trick of taping a picture of clowns hosting in an RBTA to the tank as well.

How long do you think this will take and is there another way to get them into the anemone?

Thanks in advance.

I've tried the age old trick of taping a picture of clowns hosting in an RBTA to the tank as well. thats funny. they probably say look at those fools in the pic. I would try moving the BTA and rock down to the bottom of tank

The clowns don't have their natural host, so there's no telling where they will go to next. Getting them out of the Elegance is a very good idea.

Beautiful BTA, BTW.

Well the elegance is starting to react badly to it's cage so I think I'll drop him in the sump for the time being (I've got pretty good lighting in there so I think it'll be ok for a bit). I guess I'll keep trying with these clowns but it's becoming apparent that they are going to eventually kill the elegance if I let them continue.

Thanks guys

I think my mom of all people stumbled on a way that has got these clowns to start hosting in the anemone. My two clowns are veracious eaters and they've already almost killed a duncan that I spot feed now and again trying to steal it's food (they check it for food all the time now). What my mom suggested was to feed the anemone with chopped krill and mysis like I do the duncans and see if they get used to the anemone.

Well I'm doing it right now and after about an hour of doing this, I think they are. It's too early to tell but they sure are swimming through it and doing some crazy twitchy thing. I hope this works.

Thanks for the compliment, it really is a kick-A anemone. I hope the clowns leave the porcelain crab alone. For now they seems to not really care about him so who knows. I've herd sometimes they live together.

I'm just jazzed that they finally are hosting in it and my elegance can get back to it's former self.
