getting rid of old tanks

If donating doesn't work, I'm sure you'll be able to get rid of it on Craigslist. There is a free section if you don't want anything for it.

What is the size and where are you located? One of us might want it for a project, etc.

There are also places like Freecycle where you can drop things off for pickup by someone else.

People with reptiles love leaking tanks for their critters.

Best of luck,

Roy

Call your garbage company. Mine charges $25 for up to 3 items. Doesn't matter what or how big it is. They will take it but you have to call them.

Depending on where you live most of the time they will allow you a certain number of special refuse pickups a year for no charge but you have to call to get it.

Why didn't you break it up? I think you can recycle the glass. I'm not 100% sure about this.

Our refuse company will not pick up anything not in their trash can (except during annual "spring clean" events). Anything else we need to call them and pay extra for the pickup (the normal trash guy will then just pick it up on the next regular pickup day).

I agree with tacocat.. why not just break it up ? We disposed of alot of stuff by breaking it up so that it fits into the trash can. Some days I can barely roll it down to the curb for pick up.

First, I would try to post Free Tanks. Post the dimensions and say first come, first seved. Leave them outside if you want. Might as well give it to someone who can use it instead of a landfill.

Shoot, I'd take them.

I would just offer it for free in a local club or craigslist... although I've learned that people are some pick bastages even when it's free on craigslist.

If there's damage to it, take a hammer to it over the garbage can and put it out for next trash :)

leave it on the curb! You'd be surprised what people will pick up for you!

One mans trash one mans treasure......currently half my furniture in my house was a curb side treasure :P

not true if you post it on craigslist they are people waiting for free tanks. i was looking for a free tank one time and call in 1hr time and it was gone. there are even people that post i will pick up you unwanted fish tank for free.

agreed.. post here and craigslist, if its not broken it'll go fast. otherwise dump in the trashcan and break up into glass..
