getting started

I’ve just acquired a 125 gal. tank, stand and light. I’ve been reading up on the hobby and want to start a “Berlin” setup with live sand, live rock and fish. Eventually I would like to get into corrals, anemones and the like. Does anyone have any good tips for starting out? Where is the best place in Birmingham to buy stuff?

There are a couple of stores in the Birmingham area that I get most of my stuff from, Aquarium Imports in Hoover and Tropical Pet Cove in Alabaster. I also get alot of stuff off the internet and this site.

I don't know if you would be interested, but we have an informal reef club that meets about once a month, the next meeting is on the 24th at my place in Fultondale. You are more than welcome to attend. Between the people at the meeting, we should be able to answer most of your questions. Just look at the CARC May Meeting thread on this forum for more details.
