GF concerned about only 6mp on D40

At Wolf Camera, we can basically get the D40 with the 55-200mm VR lense for a little more than the same price as the D60. Would that be worth it? I'd like to get a better zoom any ways or would the D60's 18-55mm work just fine? I know thats more of a bias question, but I can't seem to find a solid answer to get either of the 2.

With those options I would personally go with the D60 and its 18-55 kit lens. This range is pretty sufficient for most shots, especially if you're just starting out. There's this old saying "The poor man pays twice".. this is so true in Photography. I bought a 55-200 VR with my D40 only to replace it with an 18-200mm VR one month later because I miss shooting wide angle shots. With the 55-200, I had to constantly move myself to get a nice composition-- I've only used it on portrait shots and almost never used the telephoto end of it.

So my opinion is get the D60 and the 18-55 kit lens, and then you can save up for the 18-200 VR if you really need the range.
