Does anyone have experience with this GFO?

i am looking at ordering more phosban but noticed this is about 1/2 the price and was wondering if it would do the same thing in my phosphate reactor. I have had good results so far with phosban.

Most of us use this product for phosphate control. Can't go wrong with BRS.

Stuff from premium aquatics is good. Goes down in price the more you buy. You can get 4 lbs of the stuff for $60 I think

one last question... the phosban media says it can last for something like 3 months, can the BRS media last this long or does it need to be changed more frequently???

It depends on how much phosphate is in your water. If the levels are high, the media will saturate within days.

you change it when your phosphate levels are starting to rise.

how do you know when to change it then?

I test my PO4 weekly. When it hits .03 I change out my GFO. I have had it as little as 5 days before it is saturated and the last time I was 11 weeks between changes.
