I know I sound like a broken record...but there is a really easy control method for GHA and that's a sea hare. I've seen them completely scrub an infested tank clean.

Wouldn't that leave the underlying problem, well, as a problem?

I'd also think the Sea hare itself might become an issue once it had exhausted it's supply of GHA

Sea hares are easy to keep. You can feed them nori sheets, or even those algae disks.

And having one doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't work to elevated the issue, having one just cleans the place up while you deal with the issue.
