GHL Mitras Club

Corey - Depending on how much light you believe you need, and your spread desired, I'd say 2 or 3 lights. 3 lights will give you a lot of light...

Wow - that didn't show up well at all ... took all the spaces out.

this is what I was thinking if you have a 48x48 and wanted to use a lot of light... But as I said, 2 would do perfectly fine if the majority of your rock is in the center, and you're not growing down into the corners on the bottom.
Also you'd probably want the lights 10-16" off the surface, this will further give you great light spread...

Hi Marco,

do you think that one 6200hv fixture would be fine for a 24" x 24" x 24" cube?

I'd think it would be fine but wanted your opinion.

it's a mixed reef (lps/sps)

thanks in advance

Tivo

These are neat looking lights. I am already invested in another manufacturer, but the puck spacing on these looks like it addresses some of the coverage issues.

thinking the same here!

i like that spacing and the colors i've seen are really nice.

i read they are coming out with the lx7000

hmm???

Tivo - Yes, one fixture would cover your 24x24 cube fine. I'm actually contemplating setting up another 24x24x24 cube ... If I do, i'll post up.

My tank is 54 x 40 x 22; how many fixtures would I need? Keep in mind, I do like to keep some space between the sides and the rock. Looking at keeping a mixed reef.

Hi guys

I have a 42x30x30inch sps reef tank currently lit by an ati hybrid.

I want to change to full led. I have a ghl profilux computer so was looking at these lights.

My tank is odd, because the front 6inches sits in a wall so from above it can only be lit 24inch front to back

Also the tank has 3inch bars across the rim of the tank. So in essence my corals are placed in a 38x24 footprint and about 20-24" DEEP.

How many units would I need, I was hoping one would be enough but not sure because of the width and depth.

Could someone please advise

I think you would do well with 2 lights. GHL is relasing newer version Mitras lx7 this fall, so maybe it would be good idea to wait a while 😊

OK, just an update. Pulled the trigger on a pair of LX6200s for my 54 x 40 x 22; they're going to (hopefully) replace a Vertex Illumina SR360 with auxiliary pads.

Thank you, I spoke to the retailer in the UK.

Currently the prices have dropped on the 6200 because of the new lights. They are now £200 cheaper per unit.

So I would end up saving £400 (~$700) if I purchase the 6200 now.

Im not sure how much the lx7200 would cost.

I am currently running an ATI hybrid but want to go full LED now....

whats people's thoughts?

You have a good point there. I guess now it depends which model you think will give you most value? If you look up the success stories with lx6200 series in this thread, there is no deniying that these led's grow corals and now the price point is quite good also. The new lx7200 series will come with wifi connection, newer set of leds, new design and cooling solutions plus some other new stuff. The price maybe much higher though.

I have been on lookout for a great led light for a some time. Last year I was set on the mitras 6200's but the kessil ap700 was released and wanted to see how it would fare. Well here I am now, still no light and the mitras lx7200 series is coming 😄

For me the most imortant aspects for led light's are: spectrum, spread and reliability. Now with the new model I hope to see much more violet led's as I think that ens of spectrum is a good thing. And now it has proper Wi-Fi too 😄

Any updates?

I'm having a real hard time deciding between the mitras and the t5 ati sunpower. Every time I lean toward the mitras I think about programming that thing and I'm not very computer savvy. Ghl needs to really post a detailed, user friendly video for the light composer and control center.
I've seen the quick video by the British fellow but a more comprehensive one would be way better.

IMO - You have an amazing amount of adjust-ability with the Mitras, due to the 9 channels that can be adjusted.
I'll work on a video this week, to show how to easily adjust the lights. It's pretty simple once you look at it, and play some.

thanks Marco

I think that would really help in my decision. I've already downloaded the control center V1.0.8.8c on my laptop in anticipation-LOL
