GHL Mitras Club

Very nice Cedric!
Have you adjusted the spectrum yet or are you running all leds at 100%?

Hi, I adjusted by boosting the red, hyper red, hyper violet, royal blue and blue from the 12k. It seems to make the corals "pop"!

Here is a simple video of the tank with the Mitra! Try the Full HD version!

Wow Cedric, the yellow stripe and the red lady bug on those pyjamas really pop!! :) :)
Twins??
The tank looks good, also.
Enjoy the light and the babies! ;)

So after receiving the lights today turning them on and almost going blind i have to say these lights are freaking awesome!!!!! Best part is the sunglasses haha. Can't wait to set the tank up

Hi everyone

Long time reader but first time posting :)

I have quick question for those who have GHL Mitra HV ultra violet and possibly radion pro. I am currently thinking of purchasing 2 Mitras but not sure this would be best options as there is so little information out there on these units. I don't know anyone who has the mitras to view in person so I though I should ask in this thread, if its wrong move my post admin.

just some quick questions

1) I have a friend with radion pro and the color pop when they are put in the UV mode are just amazing. The mitras although they do have 420np Hyper violet Led would have some kind of color pop but would this be the same as those experienced with the Radion Pros considering they have better UV Led?

How do the colors Pop with the mitras when they are used only as UV with other lights turned down?

2) I have a problem with the way the electronics are open to water evaporation from the tanks and that the glass will fill with dust. Would this be easy to clean? anyone experienced such problems?

3)Does anyone know if the LED PCB modules are replaceable to possible future colors or even if GHL plan to offer this service? and are they user replaceable in the even of a module failure like the Vertex Illuminia series?

any pricing on how much they cost, as the vertex led series take the pee with their module Led replacement cost.

I am currently under T5 lights and my first foray into LED so want the wizz bang and color pop from my corals specially under UV. I would be gutted if I spent all the money on the Mitras only to find my friend Radion make his corals shine more :)

thanks all and any help would be much appreciated.

No LED is real UV they all have UV component but actual UV is not visible to the naked eye as it is below 380nm this is why GHL call theirs HV, having said that the UV component drops a good way into the sub 400's.

As you get a wide range in the low 400's up to 420n you have no concerns about "POP" there is masses of room to set what you want.

As above more than you could ever need, UV or rather HV is quite purple in colour when turned right up

The air is drawn down from the top and out the sides, you have no upward draw, the units are not designed for enclosed canopies like most LED's of this type. Cleaning is simple - two screws and pop the glass out.

YES everything is modular and client replaceable there is even a manual for this

any pricing on how much they cost, as the vertex led series take the pee with their module Led replacement cost.

$1,199 a unit however the spread is significant so for a 6' tank you would only need 2 units providing your width is not greater than 32" so comparably they can actually be cheaper depending on the size of your tank.

thanks all and any help would be much appreciated.

I'm wondering if the UV from Mitras hurts my eyes because I can actually see the LED bulb when I m sitting on my sofa

Allen is correct to a good point but needs explaining

NO LED covers the whole UV spectrum, they all are above 400 in the main with a slight drift sub 400, where as true UV is 190-400 nm

So GHL use the term HV instead of UV, that does not mean it is different than any other UV lamp it is just a term GHL feel happier marketing the lamp under being technically accurate.

As the LED UV spectrum does stretch slightly into the sub 400's this is why lamps are marketed as UV.

As you can see the GHL lamp does dip below the 400 so also has UV component same as all other LED UV lamps marketed with UV component. But as above GHL decided to call theirs HV as it does not cover the whole UV spectrum just like all other lamps.

Just a marketing term really to be different nothing else.
