GHL Mitras Club

No problem, let me know if you need more help.
Hello,
I have been having trouble finding the (2 sided threaded screw) to mount my GHL Mitras from the ceiling. I have checked Home Depot, Rona, Brafasco, Lowes and other lighting stores in Toronto.
I have been told that the hanging bolt provided with the Mitras is Metric 0.6 in size. Hence need a compatible screw that goes in. Most of the above stores do not stock this Metric size but only stock Imperial.

I really need to get this screw if anyone can help me where i can get it. Without which I'm not able to hang my Mitras LED.

Current tank in making - 93 Gallon Reef Starphire Rimless cube.30x30x24.

I simply got the correct screw for the ceiling then shaved the head of the screw down so it fitted in the supplied assy.

Thanks Michael for the quick reply. So do i have to buy the wood screw which would be this Metric Size or Metal screw. Reason i ask is because HD said metal would not hold good in the Studs in the ceiling .
Appreciate any help u can provide to get me going...

thanks

If going through the ceiling I would of though unless you are the luckiest man alive and have two joists 12" apart you are going to need to use a heavy duty dry wall screw and fixing. just shave the supplied screws head to fit inside the fitting.

If you are lucky enough to hit a joist then any wood screw will do, same approach - file its head.

If you can drive the screw into a stud, a #6 wood screw fits in the ceiling mount. You need enough length of the screw to bite into the wood stud.

Using anchors in just drywall (no stud) of the ceiling personally makes me feel uncomfortable and prefer to use toggle bolts...never know if/when you will lose your balance and accidentally use the lights for support...yikes!

You may have to grind the head down to make it fit into the mount. Use a washer b/w the ceiling mount and the drywall if the hole to fit the toggle through is almost the same size/larger then the mount diameter.

I hope I make sense...LOL!

Hey guys I've joined the Mitras Club. I just hooked up my 6200 last night.
Very fun light! Anything I can control with a computer must be good :)

I'm surprised that there's no Wi-Fi connection to the computer though that would be nice if I could control the light via Wi-Fi. Still nice otherwise.

I was wondering is there any downside for longevity if I run 100% high output? I'm coming from 2x250 halides over my 76g half circle the coverage is fine with the Mitras just a little lower visible light output.
I may need a second at some point we'll see.

Thanks
