GHL Mitras Club

Hi guys,

I have a 8' x 3' x 2.5'H tank. Around 400 gallons. I have 3 braces at the top of the tank, giving the tank four 2 feet openings. Would the glass bracing have any effect if the light is directly on it?

Would I need 4 units of the mitras of can I get away with 3 units? I'm planning for a full blown SPS tank.

Thanks.

I wouldn't risk three fixtures.I run five lights on my400
Its a bit over kill butthe will restrict you

the best Macna show and booth ever we have done! Huge feedback from everyone who came by, they loved the massive display tank and the Mitras was a storming success.

I leave here a few sneak pictures taken a bit blurry and in a hurry due to being so busy but I am sure many more will follow on with their own

Chris (from The Fish Store based in Fort Pierce ) being interviewed for TV, they supplied the tanks for us and acted as our show dealer this year. (His webhosts server crashed on Saturday with over 3,000 hits to his site in less than an hour!!)

Yay! I can't wait to see what you do with these lights over your new system! Please keep us updated! I'm running a 14000k project, please let me know what kind of project you come up with after you get it dialed in.

I just answered your question briefly in the GHL forum.

Long answer short: it makes the spectrum more complete and the tank is looking better, even there might be no benefit for the coral. But there're long discussions about this wavelengths, even about red.

The Mitras has definitely enough light to grow coral out-of the tank and also giving you the ability to mix it with the fuller spectrum, to fit your taste.

I am running program that was giving to me by Derek at Macna. This programm mimics Great barrier reef. Its a lil to yellow to my eyes , thats why i am a lil concern :) you saw my tank itz on a blue side . Radiums 400w for 14 years did some damage :))

Thank you Monty
Cant wait to add corals to my tank but i dont wanna rush:)

Overall i am very happy with Mitras and as usual with gHL product

just adjust the spectrum to suite your own taste Mike, its not difficult just set the lamp to direct output and play with the colours, then once you have found your own sweet spot save the spectrum to the right hand side selection menu for later use.

If this project is for 6100HV I'm very interested! Great Barrier Reef sounds promising! Can you post it? Here in Europe we don't mind les blue! LOL

Michael,
thank you for showing me program at MACNA.. i am playing with it for second day already.. my main concern how SPs will react to it. you know i so use to Radiums 400w :)

I finally join the club too! However my current light hanger kit is way wider apart each other than the mitras' gap between top holes so the cable will be hanged like this \ / to the ceiling . Am I making any sense? Do you think this is okay?

Eh...either way...I know you'll do great things with this light once you adjust it to your liking. As AQD said you just have to play with the settings of your light project so that you're happy with it. Your old tank was GORGEOUS. Best local SPS tank I've seen...so I have no doubt the new system will be stellar. It took me some time to adjust to the switch from t5's as well.

Oh and pics, please and thank you! :p
