Ghost Overflow vs. Regular internal overflow?

Good day all, wondering if I could count on your expertise and opinion on this subject. I purchased a 48" 90 Reef Savvy tank and I'm trying to decide between the Ghost Overflow and a 7 inch corner overflow. Anyone have any opinions on what would be better? This would be their latest Ghost Overflow which is much thinner and the overflow box in the back is also thinner.

So far, the benefits of the GO I can see are: 1. Takes up much less room in the display 2. Can do full siphon to make it quieter w/o having to have a larger corner (in my case) overflow to accommodate another hole. 3. GO looks badass..

Any disadvantages that anyone can think of that I haven't thought of? There only thing I can think of right now is the plumbing showing in the back of the tank, with the latest GO though; it only requires to be approx 2.5-3 inches from the wall. The GO would be offset to the least visible side (left) of the tank so when you view the side of the tank, the PVC pipes should not be too noticeable. Any input and advise is greatly appreciated.

You should probably just search this, since there have been a TON of threads here on reef central comparing them that would be really helpful.

Ghost overflow really means nothing that's just felix Felix's brand and what he calls it it's a coast to coast overflow that you're talking about and the direct benefit and largest benefit from it is the surface skimming you are gaining skimming naturally in greater abundance compared to the corner overflow now some of the points you mentioned are nice but the main advantage is surface skimming....very simple to make a coast to coast.....just made one for
Firemedix. ..also jurg...bill and some others ....its a simple project mine is i think 86in on a 96in setup

You should be able to see it here

Biggest drawback to the ghost is the plumbing behind the tank. When my tank was built that wasn't even an option. You can still do a full siphon with an overflow box. Felix did mine with 3 holes. At the time he was worried about how big it was going to be but in reality it's not bad at all. I would never get a tank again without a siphon style overflow.

Thanks mrx, That looks pretty nice, I like the look of the C2C, you pointed out surface skimming which is not something I had take into account. Thanks for your input, much appreciate it.

Thanks Rovster, what size is your overflow? 6 months ago the GO external box Felix was using was a bit bigger than I liked, I saw the latest one today and it's a lot smaller coming in at 2.5" - so I would only have a 2.5-3 inch space between the wall and tank. That's not too bad and painting all the pumbing black will help I'm sure. I'd hate to smack myself in the head a few months from now and say "I should've..." - decisions....

Thanks Rovster - so I went with the ghost overflow and will use black pvc and it should be hard to notice with the overflow box only needing 2.5 inches in the back. The glass has been ordered so I should have the tank in a couple of week, it's been along 6 month wait but I think it'll be well worth it.

I'm still trying to source it, most places I've found it at online are fairly expensive (about $15 for 5 feet of 1.25") another option I'm considering is to just paint it using Krylon Fusion. I've used that is the past and it works very well, once it dry and cured for a couple days it's even reef safe, but these pieces woulnd't be in my tank anyhow.

Savko. Yes it's expensive but you don't need that much. Plus you can order a lot of plumbing stuff you can't find at local box stores. Their prices are competitive with BRS. I got most of my plumbing with them. Their website is a little complicated but their service has always been great over the phone...
