Yes, the drain fitting on the collection cup can be plumbed into a separate container located in your cabinet or aquarium stand.

The main difference between the AquaC Urchin/Remora and the SkimMate Ghost is the method in which foam is created. AquaC utilizes a spray injection while the Ghost is using a neelewheel venturi which should prove to be a more aggressive skimmer resulting in better collection.
