Gigantea in wild video?

Yeah, that flow is insane.I was waiting for it to rip off the rock!!
When you think you think you know it all there is always somthing more to learn about these beautiful creatures we keep..

Something wasn't quite natural in that video, at first it had several sides nailed to the rockwork and was spread out, then those detatched all the sudden and it went flopping. Maybe it is just me.

I can take away that it has alot of good flow in that . . TANK? Nice aquascaping? DSB? 250 watt MH? . .

i have not yet seen a tank that has anything close to what the ocean has to offer.

looks natural to me

^^^ Was a joke about the Ocean :(

I am just curious why it's disc became unstuck all the sudden from the rockwork around it. Was there a boat overhead or something that would cause a bit more wave action to detatch it? I just think that maybe that was a bit too much flow for an anemone in a normal condition as it would want it's disc open and planted, not blow all to heck and possibly ripped by the rocks and coral heads around it.

Just my thoughts on the video, wish I could have a wave action closer to that though :)

Yeah that flow is pretty wild. Maybe close to the shore or surface where this a larger effect from the currents created by waves

It is a mertensii. The verrucae of the mertensii help hold the anemone open. I would guess that it is natual flow, but probably an amount that doesn't happen more than once or twice a day.

I agree in saying that its natural. And that the stickyness that we desire in our anemones is displayed in this very cool short clip.

That video is of a merten's like phil said, and i would say that is either tide going in or out, and the flow is alot less than that throughout the day and it only happens when tide goes in or out.

i would say that was taken during a tide comming or going i dont think if would make it like that all the time
